Inspirational messages on social media or devotionals that people read or listen to every day, can be a wonderful source of encouragement and give us strength. The words of people around us and the positive messages of devotionals are not always able to lift our spirits when we need help.  When we feel that we need more strength than inspiring words can offer, we should remember that God is the only one who can give us all the strength we need in life. Hoping in his goodness, which is greater than the goodness and kindness that people can show us, gives us strength for our daily life.  When we feel as though our hope has reached its limit and we do not know what to hope in, we can ask God to give us hope in his abilities, goodness and love for us. By J.E. Nickerson   Sometimes we find ourselves in need of mercy and kindness from others. While people will sometimes do favors for us or be willing to help us in limited ways, God’s goodness and kindness extends far beyond anything that our friends or social circles, can provide. People may do good things to be noticed or because they expect to be rewarded or repaid for their acts of kindness, God’s goodness and kindness however, comes from his own nature.  God never answers a prayer, with the expectation that one day we will pay him back for the good things he has given us. Instead, he extends his goodness to us, even when we do not deserve it. When we have made mistakes or sinned against him, he willingly extends his grace, mercy and forgiveness to us. When describing God’s goodness, King David said that God’s kindness and mercy were as high above us, as the clouds of the sky. This means that God’s ability to show us mercy and his faithfulness, is greater or higher than any problem

  By J.E. Nickerson For years I have heard about the Jesus People Movement of the 60’s-70’s. My mother was in high school during the 60’s-70’s and knew some people who identified with the hippie movement. We even read various books about the Jesus People Movement and the key leaders and figures of that period in church history. We also read about the counterculture movement and the radical ideologies of the 60’s-70’s.   Last week, my mother purchased the Jesus Revolution movie and the Jesus Music movie. Both movies documented the creation of modern Christian music from the 60’s through today. I learned about the impact it had on the church and the culture of the day.  These movies also showed me the struggles that society was experiencing during this period of history. The 60’s were full of social unrest, political despair and fear. People were looking for answers to the questions in their minds. Some chose to drop out of society and search for answers in drugs and free thinking lifest
