Nickerson As we continue to enjoy the holiday season, many people plan special meals for their family and friends, as a way of celebrating the holiday season.  But have you ever planned out the perfect meal, prepared the house to receive guests and set out the good dinnerware, only to be declined by your dinner guests? In Luke 14, Jesus tells the story of a man who created an elaborate feast, in honor of his son’s marriage and invited all of his friends and the people he knew to the feast.  People who have been invited to wedding dinners and events wrapped around marriages, understand how important this kind of event is and how much goes into creating it. By J.E. Nickerson Have you ever looked at a situation and wondered how you would succeed in your goal without a lot of resources to use? A few days ago, my family went to the store to purchase a turkey and other things we would need for the holidays. Because of rising prices and our financial situation, we were wondering how we would afford to purchase all of the things that were required for our holiday needs.  Even though we were concerned, God had already provided the answer we needed. As we began walking through aisles, he lead us to buy one get one free deals on many of the things we needed.  When it came time to get a turkey for our thanksgiving meal, God lead us to a selection of turkeys that were only 49 cents per pound. God’s provision enabled us to purchase everything we needed for our impending Thanksgiving meal. The Faithfulness of God

  Sometimes our life abruptly and harshly changes without warning. In this special article co-written with my family member, B. Nickerson, I would like to encourage everyone who has ever experienced suddenly difficulties and trauma in their life.   While entering into another holiday season, I would like to take time to reflect upon the faithfulness of God. Beginning at the end of last year, situations arose that took me on a long and challenging journey. While most people would love to say that their relationships with family are exactly what they always wanted, this statement is not always true.  Some people struggle to connect with family because of various reasons. In this article, we will look at a few reasons why people may struggle to connect with those they love and how to improve relationships over the holiday season.  Some people view the relationships in their life as an asset that benefits their goals. News stories of impending financial difficulties and shortages of food and political unrest can steal our peace and threaten our mental health. This is why Paul told us in Philippians 4:8 that in order to deal with the trials and difficulties of life, we must be careful what we think about. While most people try to fill their minds with inspirational thoughts, meditation, quotes and declarations, Paul instructs us on exactly what kind of things we should focus on in order to have lasting peace and mental health. National Adoption Month (November)

  By J.E. Nickerson Before we look at the history of Adoption Month, I would like to address you the reader, from a personal perspective. On November 8, 1990, I was blessed to be adopted by a young woman who was unable to have children. For many years she struggled with the loneliness and emotional issues that comes with being childless.  But God in his mercy and love, provided her with a way to have a child through the gift of adoption. My biological mother was only a teenager when she placed me for adoption. Her choice, provided the answer to years of prayers by my adoptive mother.  I am blessed to be able to inspire others through stories about my life and adventures.
