Enjoying God’s strength in your life

Image
By J.E. Nickerson Have you ever faced a situation that you did not have strength for? Being strong means more than just lifting weights or being able to lift heavy items. Being a strong person also means that you can handle or deal with difficult situations and not be overcome. As a weightlifter, I regularly train my body to stay fit by lifting heavy weights and using guided fitness classes. While this is one of my favorite parts of my daily routine, it takes a special kind of strength to deal with heavy issues in life. Sickness, family issues, work and personal trauma are some of the heavy issues that challenge people’s personal, emotional and spiritual strength. While counseling, advice from friend and family and having faith in yourself are all useful ways of dealing with life’s issues, they cannot give us the strength we need for every situation. When we have reached the end of our resources and strength, we should always remember that God is able to give us strength for the situa

Peace that overcomes all obstacles

Experiencing peace in our daily life is something that many people struggle to achieve. News stories of rising inflation, political and social unrest and wars in other countries and their affect on our economy are some of the things that fill people with fear and worry.  When Jesus walked the earth, the people who followed him dealt with similar issues that threaten to take away their peace of mind. The Roman Empire was in power at the time. The people who followed Jesus, struggled to live under Roman oppression. Religious liberties were curtailed, heavy taxes were required to be paid to the Roman government and people, known as zealots, fought against the Roman soldiers. Many people lived in fear of the Romans and longed to be free from the oppression around them.  Despite these issues and great social unrest, Jesus promised the people who listened to his message and lived by his words, that they would experience a special kind of peace. This peace transcended the issues of the day.

God's limitless love for us

Image
By J.E. Nickerson The love of God is greater than anything we can comprehend on our own. When people say they love each other, it is based on human concepts and definitions of love. While human forms of love help us and are necessary for our life, God’s love for us is stronger and more reliable than the love that people can give us. People’s love is often conditional and cannot satisfy every need we have in life. Friends may love us, but they cannot heal our bodies when we are sick or provide for every financial issue we have.  But God’s love is limitless. It is not constrained by the limitations around us. God does not love us based on what we do for him. Instead, he loves us based on who he is. God is able to provide for us because he loves us. Out of love for humanity, Jesus Christ came to earth to walk among us. Out of love, he healed the sick and comforted the lonely. Many people long to experience a loving relationship with people around them. While God can provide this kind of
