“The Assumption of Mary, or Assumption Day, takes place on August 15th. It is dedicated to the belief that the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, did not die, but instead was taken up into heaven at the end of her life. This belief is considered to be dogmatic within the Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican churches. Some supporters of Mary’s Assumption think that because of her role as Jesus’ mother, she was saved from death and taken into heaven with an accompaniment of angels..."
