Fiestas Agostinas

"Salvadorians celebrate the Fiestas Agostinas or the August Festival. This is a five day festival that honors Jesus Christ as the Patron Saint of Salvador. During the festival, many people travel to the Monumento al Divino Salvador Del Mundo or Monument to the Divine Savior of the World. The monument consists of a large stone column that holds a large globe, on top of which, is a life sized statue of Jesus Christ. The monument is considered to be a national personification of the Republic of El Salvador, which means the Republic of the Savior.”
