Enjoying God’s strength in your life

 By J.E. Nickerson

Have you ever faced a situation that you did not have strength for? Being strong means more than just lifting weights or being able to lift heavy items. Being a strong person also means that you can handle or deal with difficult situations and not be overcome. As a weightlifter, I regularly train my body to stay fit by lifting heavy weights and using guided fitness classes.

While this is one of my favorite parts of my daily routine, it takes a special kind of strength to deal with heavy issues in life. Sickness, family issues, work and personal trauma are some of the heavy issues that challenge people’s personal, emotional and spiritual strength. While counseling, advice from friend and family and having faith in yourself are all useful ways of dealing with life’s issues, they cannot give us the strength we need for every situation.

When we have reached the end of our resources and strength, we should always remember that God is able to give us strength for the situation we are dealing with. His strength is perfect and never fails, no matter what we are facing. The Bible says that God will never give us more than we can bear and will always give us a way of dealing with the things we are going through. This means that he will give us the strength we need, his strength, to walk through every situation. Some people who read this are facing personal health and financial issues, others may be facing joblessness and emotional health issues. Whatever your situation is, I encourage you to reach out to God. Only God can make you a strong person and give you the ability to handle the heavy situations of life. Ask him for his strength and trust him with your situation.
