Finding true peace and comfort in life

It is easy to let our minds and thoughts be filled with things that bring us worry and fear. News stories of impending financial difficulties and shortages of food and political unrest can steal our peace and threaten our mental health.

This is why Paul told us in Philippians 4:8 that in order to deal with the trials and difficulties of life, we must be careful what we think about. While most people try to fill their minds with inspirational thoughts, meditation, quotes and declarations, Paul instructs us on exactly what kind of things we should focus on in order to have lasting peace and mental health. Philippians 4:8 NIV says the following, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Instead of letting your mind dwell and focus on all the negative and fearful news and content in the world, relying on positive thinking and mindful techniques, ask God to help you fix your mind and thoughts on the things that bring true peace and comfort.
