Becoming A Wise Thinker

By J.E. Nickerson

What does it mean to be a wise thinker? Being a wise thinker means that you do not just accept the views of society blindly. Throughout history, thinkers, philosophers and intellectuals challenged the established ideas of their day. Writer and religious teacher Paul of Tarsus, boldly spoke to philosophers of his day, the Epicureans. These philosophers rejected the idea of miracles and divine interaction between God and man.

Instead of accepting this idea and adopting it, Paul told the Epicureans that there was a God and that he had a plan for society.

Becoming a wise thinker means that we educate ourselves on the topics and popular ideas in society. Once we are well informed, we are then prepared to discuss these topics with other people and encourage them to change their perspective on various topics. Being a wise thinker, also means being able to see solutions to problems that other people are struggling with and offer encouragement to those who are discouraged. Building a stronger community by sharing your faith, experiences and encouraging each other, is the most important part of changing society around you.
