Are We There Yet?
By J.E. Nickerson
If you have ever taken a road trip to a destination that was far away, you undoubtedly had a season when you were impatient and tired of the journey you were on. While it is enjoyable to have a favorite playlist of road trip songs, listen to an engrossing audio book or a thought provoking podcast, no one likes the feeling of a never ending trip.
Generally we do our best to know every twist, turn and obstacle we might run into on a road trip. GPS systems can give you minute by minute, real-time updates on road conditions and the best alternative route to take, if you want to avoid unexpected delays.
But in life, we are unable to see all the obstacles along the road of life. We cannot GPS all of the problems or situations that arise. That is why you must pack faith in God for your life’s journey. When people pack for a journey, they select items they know they will need. Toiletries, snacks, cables to charge tech and other items, are part of many people’s checklist of things they need while they travel.
Just as we pack physical things for a journey, we must also remember pack our faith, hope and trust in God. Only God can see everything in our path. His Holy Spirit’s guidance, is the ultimate GPS for our life journey. God will help us to avoid making costly mistakes and choices that cause us harm and pain in life. We rely on accurate maps to avoid choosing the wrong roads that could damage our vehicles and cause us to be lost. We should also rely on God to direct and protect us.
While we might not always know where we are going in life or how long it will take to reach our goals and destination, we can always turn to God for information and guidance along the road of life.
