Holy Tuesday: The Suffering Servant
J.E. Nickerson
As we move deeper into Holy Week, we reflect on the humility and obedience of Jesus, who willingly bore our grief and carried our sorrows. On this Holy Tuesday, we remember that Christ walked steadily toward the cross, not as a victim, but as the prophesied Servant who would save many.
“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief… Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
—Isaiah 53:3-5 (ESV)
Jesus fulfilled this prophecy, not only by suffering, but by doing so with love. May we remember His sacrifice, and find strength in His example as we walk through this sacred week.
