Holy Wednesday: The Healer has come
As we walk through the sacred days of Holy Week, Holy Wednesday often feels like the stillness before the storm. It’s a quieter moment, resting between the triumph of Palm Sunday and the sorrow of Good Friday. Yet hidden in this midweek pause is a powerful truth: The Healer has come.
In Isaiah 53:5 we read,
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.”
This verse reminds us that Christ didn’t come only to bear our sins—He came to heal us. Spiritually. Emotionally. Even physically. On this Holy Wednesday, we are invited to remember Jesus not only as the Lamb who was slain, but also as the Healer who restores all things.
As betrayal quietly stirs in the background of the Holy Week story, Jesus is still moving in compassion. He is still offering peace, hope, and wholeness to the broken. Even in the shadow of the cross, His love doesn’t pull away—it surrounds us.
Holy Wednesday devotion reminds us that the road to Calvary is not just about suffering—it’s also about redemption and restoration. If you’re carrying wounds this week—whether they be grief, regret, or pain from the past—know this: The Healer has already come for you.
In the sacred nature of this day, pause. Let the truth of Isaiah 53:5 settle in your heart. The same Jesus who walked into Jerusalem with purpose is the One who walks into our lives with healing.
Holy Wednesday isn’t empty—it’s expectant. The cross is coming, yes—but so is the healing that flows from it.
He has come. And by His stripes… we are healed.
