He Is Risen: The Victory That Changes Everything

Image
J.E. Nickerson  Easter is more than a holiday. It’s the heart and foundation of our faith — the moment heaven kissed earth and eternity opened wide. “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” —  Matthew 28:6 This isn’t just a line in scripture — it’s the fulfillment of every promise God made. The tomb is empty. Death is defeated. Love has the final word. And what does that mean for us? It means we don’t walk in darkness anymore. It means hope is alive — not just as a concept, but as a Person. As Paul said in Romans 5:12— “We also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” Christ’s resurrection shows us that through him, we can overcome all things even death and the grave. Because Christ rose from the dead we also can have life beyond the grave with him. When we welcome him into our life we can rise above the things that have held us down in life. The resurrection power of Christ brings life to the situations an...

Holy Saturday: The Waiting Room of Glory

Image
Holy Saturday: The Waiting Room of Glory J.E. Nickerson  Today is Holy Saturday—a quiet, in-between moment that often gets overlooked. It’s the space between the pain of the cross and the joy of the resurrection. But it’s  not  empty. It’s sacred. It’s the pause where we prepare our hearts for the celebration that’s coming. Just like the disciples, we sit in this moment—waiting, hoping, trusting. We may not see the full picture yet, but  God is moving , even in the silence. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles…” – Isaiah 40:31 This is the day we hold space in our hearts. We reflect on the weight of what Jesus carried—and the  glory  that followed. We don’t rush past the waiting. We  breathe in  the promise. Because  tomorrow , the stone rolls away. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5 Let your heart stay close to the tomb, n...

The Deepest Love: Reflecting on Christ’s Sacrifice This Good Friday

Image
J.E. Nickerson  Good Friday is not just a somber day on the Christian calendar—it is a day of profound love. It’s the day we remember the ultimate act of mercy and grace: Jesus Christ willingly suffering and dying for us. This was no accident, no misstep in history. It was divine love in action. Christ, the spotless Lamb of God, endured unimaginable pain—not for His own wrongs, but for ours. He allowed Himself to be betrayed, beaten, mocked, and nailed to a rugged cross, carrying the weight of our sins so we might be free. “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” —Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) This verse captures the heart of Good Friday. Every lash He bore, every insult hurled at Him, every drop of blood shed—it was for us. Jesus endured it all so that we might know forgiveness and be reconciled to God. He was not forced into this. He chose it. The Roman soldiers who b...

Holy Thursday: A Call to Serve in the Love of Christ

Image
J.E. Nickerson  On Holy Thursday, also known as Maundy Thursday, we remember the night Jesus gathered with His disciples in the Upper Room. As He prepared to lay down His life, He gave them a powerful demonstration of love—not just in words, but through action. Jesus, fully God and fully man, knelt down and washed the feet of His disciples. This act was not just about cleanliness; it was a declaration of humility, service, and divine love. “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” —  John 13:14–15 (NIV) In that moment, Jesus modeled what it means to love with intention. He didn’t assert His authority by demanding reverence—He embodied it by serving others. Foot washing was a task reserved for the lowest servant in the household, yet Jesus chose to take that place. The King of kings stooped low so we might understand how high, how wide, and how ...

Holy Wednesday: The Healer has come

Image
By J.E. Nickerson As we walk through the sacred days of Holy Week, Holy Wednesday often feels like the stillness before the storm. It’s a quieter moment, resting between the triumph of Palm Sunday and the sorrow of Good Friday. Yet hidden in this midweek pause is a powerful truth:  The Healer has come. In Isaiah 53:5 we read, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” This verse reminds us that Christ didn’t come only to bear our sins—He came to  heal  us. Spiritually. Emotionally. Even physically. On this Holy Wednesday, we are invited to remember Jesus not only as the Lamb who was slain, but also as the Healer who restores all things. As betrayal quietly stirs in the background of the Holy Week story, Jesus is still moving in compassion. He is still offering peace, hope, and wholeness to the broken. Even in the shadow of the cross, His love doesn’t pull aw...

Holy Tuesday: The Suffering Servant

Image
J.E. Nickerson  As we move deeper into Holy Week, we reflect on the humility and obedience of Jesus, who willingly bore our grief and carried our sorrows. On this Holy Tuesday, we remember that Christ walked steadily toward the cross, not as a victim, but as the prophesied Servant who would save many. “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief… Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” —Isaiah 53:3-5 (ESV) Jesus fulfilled this prophecy, not only by suffering, but by doing so with love. May we remember His sacrifice, and find strength in His example as we walk through this sacred week.

Holy Monday: A Sacred Pause to Begin Our Holy Week Journey

Image
As Holy Monday arrives, we are invited into a sacred pause—a moment to quiet our minds, slow our hearts, and awaken our spirits. This is the beginning of  Holy Week , one of the most significant times in the  Christian faith , when we reflect on the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His powerful teachings, and His ultimate act of love and sacrifice. Holy Monday is a time to remember the righteous fire in Christ’s heart—the same Jesus who entered the temple and turned over tables, standing boldly against injustice and religious hypocrisy. His passion was not only for the truth of God’s love but also for the people who were being abused by the leaders of their day. His love was fierce, selfless, and deeply personal. As we journey together through  Passion Week , let’s allow this day to refocus our faith and realign our hearts with the deeper meaning of the Cross. The path Jesus walked was not one of comfort, but of courage. It was paved with obedience, mercy, and sacri...

“Early Risers vs. Slow Starters: Finding God’s Grace in Every Morning Routine”

Image
By J.E. Nickerson Good morning! Have you ever felt as if you are starting your day in slow motion? Or maybe you wake up feeling energized and ready to take on the world. For me, every day is a fresh start, a new adventure waiting to happen.  Psalm 57:8, sums up my approach to a new day perfectly. It says, “Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” It describes the morning habits of someone who loves life so much that they wake up before most people had even turned on their coffee machines or started getting ready for work. While I am usually ready to greet the day before the sun is shining, not everyone is ready to start the day this early.  Some people prefer a slow and steady beginning to their day full of coffee, news and maybe a little breakfast, before they jump into the race car known as daily life. While both ways of waking up are perfectly normal and have their benefits, there is one person who is awake night and day and never too tired to he...
